This basically means that by the end of next month (May) the server list will be empty.

There are ways around this with alternative masterservers but since they need to be configured by each player its difficult to see any new players coming in, of which there were very few anyway. I hope I'm wrong but this does look like the final nail in the DXMP coffin.

Read the announcment, sad news, but was going to happen sooner or later! master2.oldunreal.com is up and running still, i had to take it down for a while while moving house. Now i am moved I am starting self employment as a telephone psychic reader and have more time at home. Unreal has backups already established well in the community.

It is on uninterrupted power and i restored it today as due to moving i had to shut it off, however just ironing out a few kinks but is working. To recap and we really need to edit the wikipedia page and maybe put a warning in the server list to warn players to change their .inis maybe a link to a site in the list.

To add my MS find in the Deus Ex.ini in c:\Deus Ex\system file:

add it to the uplink area after installing nepthys v 4a130 which is supplied here:
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27500

and to the server Query area the default is shown below:

[DeusEx.MenuScreenJoinGame]
MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com

and change it to:

[DeusEx.MenuScreenJoinGame]
;MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com
MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com
MasterServerTCPPort=25900
;MasterServerTCPPort=28900

when gamespy is working it would be like this:

[DeusEx.MenuScreenJoinGame]
MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com
;MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com
;MasterServerTCPPort=25900
MasterServerTCPPort=28900

when gamespy goes down for good can be changed to this:

[DeusEx.MenuScreenJoinGame]
MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com
MasterServerTCPPort=25900

If we upload deus ex to any filesharing sites, we should edit any .iso files default ini's to this. Please get the word out, anyone who has a mass Deus Ex mailing list and also editing the Deus Ex Wiki may be appropriate, also. I will supply a default ini that anyone with a clean install will NEED after may 31.

please ensure Nephthys v1.4a130 is installed to prevent server rejection, a link here:

Interesting, perhaps they will add MP to the next DX game but it seems that the fans are divided on whether they even want it.

someone else is attempting to uplink but a mismatching nepthys version results in what is shown here on the MS log, if its a paid server the IPDrv and Nepthys DLL versions are supplied in this file you need to replace them to the later version which is the same version the masterserver bears:

Note that 181 is the ammount of heartbeats rejected since i reset the application, if we have multiple masterservers if one hosted say a non-Nephthys MS, and an MS with the alpha version of Nephthys and have the game query them all with the mod, or somehow get zoras and developers/steams permission to preinstall Nephthys of the correct version so any new player's games that are hosted match this version or have it in a patch. This is a problem we face with UCC, according to zora it was due to incorrect keys for deus-ex that were used.

Now I am no longer using UCC my options are open significantly, this will now work for any game on the unreal engine although the application I am using I am helping test for security This means, that the ports are the unreal default, so if hosters could please change it
to what it is now which it will stay, however unreal hosters need do nothing, add it as:

ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900

Or if using nepthys: ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900

The Query port is: 28900 as default so if using it in the menuscreen.joingame area no changes to MasterServerTCP port is needed, in DX-SL etc keep port as 28900. Should now accept heartbeats from all versions without the stupid issues UCC was having.

Also while I am at it, smirf from oldunreal is also hosting a multi master server for all unreal engine based games, so:

ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900

Or if using nepthys: ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900

So that is two masters to add to your ini's change the uplink port if you are already uplinking to mine. Should have used 28900 from the beginning but was already using UCC for unreal on those ports...

If using Deja's mod also add master2.oldunreal.com and master.oldunreal.com to the query side to use all master servers, make sure to add master.deusexnetwork.com, and master.333networks.com as well
